Senior All-Region forward Ryan Minick (North Royalton) and junior midfielderAndy Harding (Bath/Revere) each scored a goal and an assist as the Hiram College men’s soccer team defeated Marietta College, 3-1, in a non-conference game at Charles A. Henry Field.
With the win, the Terriers have won five straight and remain unbeaten with a 5-0 overall record. The Pioneers fall to 2-3 overall for the seaon.
All of the offense in the game came in the second half with Marietta striking first scoring just under three minutes into the period with a goal from Wesley Riley to give the Pioneers a 1-0 lead. Hiram then scored three straight goals beginning with Minick’s goal at the 56:00 minute mark with an assist from Harding. The duo hooked up again a few minutes later, but this time it would be Harding who found the back of the net with a helper from Minick during the 62nd minute to increase the margin to 2-1. The Terriers sealed the victory with a late goal at the 75:00 mark off the foot of senior midfielder/forward Kevin Haramis (Norton) and an assist from senior midfielder Ty Smith (Rocky River/St. Ignatius) as Hiram went on to capture the 3-1 victory.
Senior goalkeeper Joe Rottinger (Strongsville) played all 90 minutes and recorded his fourth victory of the season to improve to 4-0 overall. He allowed just the lone goal while making four saves.
Hiram is scheduled to host John Carroll University on Friday, Sept. 14 in a non-conference matchup. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
