HIRAM, OHIO – The Hiram College men’s soccer team ended their 2010 season with a loss to Denison University today (Saturday, Oct. 30) in a North Coast Athletic Conference game at the Hiram College Soccer Complex. [Game Stats]
Following today’s game, the Terriers will end their season 6-12 overall and 3-5 in the NCAC. The Big Red improve to 9-7-1 overall and 4-3-1 NCAC.
Hiram opened the scoring with a quick post just 1:45 into the game on a goal by senior forward Cole Miller (Berlin/ Hiland), his first goal of the season. Denison tied the score just over six minutes later with a goal by Lenny Mills at the 7:55 mark. Denison then put the game out of reach with two more goals before the half, a goal by Ish Ghodbane at the 20:00 minute mark with an assist by Bob Casarona to make the score 2-1, then a goal with 42:17 on the clock by Ryan Torgersen, assisted by Chris Olson making the score 3-1 at the half. Hiram would get back on the board late in the second half on a goal by sophmore Taylor Kiefer (North Canton/ Hoover) at the 79:35 mark to close the gap at 3-2. Denison would post the final two scores, a goal at the 81:15 mark by Ghodbane to make it 4-2, and Ghodbane would complete the hat trick on a goal with 89:57 on the clock to make the final 5-2.
Senior Joe Tatum (Georgetown, Cayman Islands/St. George’s School) played all 90 minutes in net for Hiram, but took the loss and is now 4-10 overall for the season. He allowed five goals and made two saves.
