Senior Andy Harding (Akron/Revere) and senior Ryan Kramarz(Chesterland/West Geauga) both scored two goals, as the Hiram College men’s soccer team recorded a 8-4 win at Franciscan on Wednesday.

The Terriers improve to 4-1-0 on the season, while the Barons drop to 1-4-1.

Harding got Hiram on the board just 10:31 into the match. He stole the ball from the defender and beat the keeper on a breakaway.

Kramarz added a goal seven minutes later, beating the drawn out goalie to make the score 2-0 in favor of Hiram.

Franciscan would get on the board at the 27:15 mark, but Kramarz answered just 44 seconds later with his second goal of the game, making the score 3-1.

In the second half, freshman Zac Cairns (North Olmsted/St. Edward) took a pass from juniorRichie Webb (London, England/Laude Lady Elizabeth School) and beat the keeper to the left.

The Barons responded with a goal just 26 seconds later, cutting HC’s lead to 4-2.

Webb made it 5-2 in favor of the Terriers in the 59th minute and Harding added his second goal of the game at the 66:14 mark.

Junior Ryan Zittel (Sheboygon, Wis./Kohler Senior) expanded Hiram’s lead to 7-2 with his first goal of the season.

Sophomore Rusty Banks (Warren/Champion) closed out the scoring with his first goal of the season in the 78th minute.

Junior Matt Sacher (Akron/Coventry) made five saves in goal to pick up his third win of the season.

Hiram fired 29 shots in the match, 18 of which were on goal. The Barons took 14 shots with nine of them being on goal.

The Terriers held a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Hiram will return to action on Saturday, when it hosts Heidelberg at 1 p.m.
