The Hiram College men’s soccer team fell, 4-0, to non-conference opponent Case at Charles A. Henry Field.
Case (5-1-3) struck quickly needing just 7:01 to score its first goal of the game off the foot of Chris Cvecko. Cvecko later recorded his second goal of the game late in the period during the 33rd minute to give the Spartans a 2-0 advantage at halftime.
In the second period, Case took a commanding lead with its third goal at the 59:13 mark by Jacob Grindel and then found the back of the net one last time during the 87th minute from Matthew Zembas as Case claimed the 4-0 shutout victory.
In goal for Hiram, junior Chris Minite (Aurora) started the game and played 88:35, but would be given the loss dropping him to 2-4 overall for the season. He allowed four goals and made four saves. Freshman Cory Weddington (Twinsburg) came on as a goalie to play the final 1:25 and gave up no goals and did not record a save.
Hiram will play its next three games on the road beginning with a North Coast Athletic Conference game against Denison University on Friday, Oct. 4 in Granville. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
