
Sophomore Richard Webb (Alicante, Spain/Laude Lady Elizabeth School) scored two goals in Hiram’s 4-1 victory against Franciscan.
Sophomore Richard Webb (Alicante, Spain/Laude Lady Elizabeth School) scored a pair of goals to help lead the Hiram College men’s soccer team past Franciscan University, 4-1, in a non-conference game at Charles A. Henry Field.
In the first half, the game remained deadlocked at 0-0 until the 32:58 minute mark when junior Andres Ruiz (Georgetown, Cayman Islands/John Gray) found the back of the net to give Hiram (2-4-1) a 1-0 lead. The lead didn’t last long however, as Franciscan (2-3) netted a goal during the 35th minute to even the score at 1-1. The two goals were all the offense in the first 45 minutes as the two teams went into halftime tied at 1-1.
Hiram regained the lead at the 61:17 minute mark of the second half when Webb recorded his first goal of the game, with an assist by junior Ryan Kramarz (Chesterland/West Geauga), making the score 2-1. The Terrier offense went on to add two more goals in the game from junior Zaire Morrison (Boardman) at the 79:52 mark and Webb’s second goal at the 82:23 mark en route to the 4-1 final. Morrison was also credited with an assist on Webb’s second score.
In net, sophomore Matt Sacher (Akron/Coventry) started the game and played 69:55. He also got the win to improve to 1-0-1 overall for the season. He allowed one goal and made two saves. Freshman Chris Lindemeyer (Lodi/Cloverleaf) played the final 20:05 giving up no goals and had two saves.
Hiram will travel to Tiffin for a non-conference game against Heidelberg University on Tuesday, Sept. 17. The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
