The Hiram College men’s lacrosse team dropped a 20-4 contest at Wooster on Saturday afternoon.
The Terriers fall to 2-4 on the season and 0-2 in the NCAC, while the Fighting Scots are 6-1, 2-0.
Wooster scored seven times in the first quarter and added the first three goals of the second to jump out to a 10-0 lead.
Junior Greg Summers (Lancaster, N.Y./St. Mary’s) got Hiram on the board at the 3:48 mark of the second, taking a pass from junior Chris Lekan (North Olmsted/Holy Name) and finding the back of the net.
Wooster would answer with a goal a minute later, but the Lekan to Summers combination struck again, with 59 seconds left in the first half. Hiram trailed 11-2 heading into the intermission.
The Fighting Scots would open the second half with two more goals to make the score 13-2.
Freshman Evan Pinney (Richfield/Revere) scored a man-up goal with 7:11 left in the quarter to bring Hiram within 13-3. Sophomore Doug Legris (Fairfax, Vt./Bellows Free Academy) recorded the assist on the play.
Wooster would add another goal in the third.
Freshman Nick Rollason (Pickerington/Pickerington North) would find the back of the net with 13:22 remaining in the game to cut the Terriers deficit to 14-4.
The Fighting Scots would score the final six goals of the contest to cap off the 20-4 victory.
Wooster held a 64-20 edge on shots and 64-30 advantage in ground balls.
Hiram will return to action on Wednesday, when it welcomes Alma (Mich.) to Henry Field for a 6:30 p.m. non-conference game.
