The Hiram College men’s golf team finished in ninth place after the final round of the North Coast Athletic Conference Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University at Oakhaven Golf Club in Delaware.
Hiram shot a team score of 358 strokes on the final day and finished the two-day event with an overall total 722 strokes (364+358=722) to place ninth. Wittenberg University captured the team title with 616 strokes (313+303=616) and was followed by Allegheny (Pa.) College in second with 617 strokes (305+312=617). Rounding out the top three was host school Ohio Wesleyan with 621 strokes (307+314=621).
Individually, the Terriers were led by junior Ethan Tope (Dalton/Waynedale) who fired an 81 on the final day and posted an overall score of 167 strokes (86+81=167) on the par-71, 6,876-yard course layout and finished in a tie for 33rd overall. Sophomore Kyle Meggas (Lakewood) was second on the team overall with 181 strokes (90+91=181) and was followed by freshman Danny Essel (Euclid) with 182 strokes (92+90=182). Sophomore Jon Hall (Barberton) rounded out the Hiram competitors with a tournament-total 192 strokes (96+96=192).
