The Hiram College men’s golf team finished in a tie for fourth place at the Lourdes University Fall Invitational at the Barrington Golf Club in Aurora.
Hiram ended the one-day tournament with a team total of 365 strokes to place in a tie for fourth overall out of five teams. Tiffin University captured the team title with 322 strokes and was followed by host school Lourdes in second at 359 strokes. Rounding out the top three schools was Cleary (Mich.) University with 363 strokes.
Sophomore Kyle Meggas (Lakewood) posted the low round of the tournament for Hiram with an 18-hole total 87 strokes and placed ninth overall out of 22 golfers. FreshmanDanny Essel (Euclid) finished one stroke behind with an 88. Junior Ethan Tope (Dalton/Waynedale) was third on the team with 90 strokes and sophomore Jon Hall (Barberton) was fourth at 100 strokes. Rounding out the Hiram competitors was senior Corey Navarro (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) with a tournament total 127 strokes.
Hiram concludes its 2012 fall schedule with the completion of the Lourdes Invitational. The Terriers will open their 2013 spring schedule with the Denison University Invitational on Apr. 27-28 at the Granville Golf Course in Granville.
