MOUNT VERNON, OHIO — The Hiram College men’s golf team finished in fourth place after the final day of the Kenyon College Fall Invitational this afternoon (Sunday, Sept. 26) at the Mount Vernon Country Club in Mount Vernon. [FINAL Results]
The Terriers posted a final-round team total of 335 strokes and ended the two-day tournament with a total of 669 strokes (334+335=669) to place fourth of six teams. Gannon (Pa.) University won the team title with a tournament total of 638 strokes (306+332+638). Denison University was second at 640 strokes (314+326=640), followed by The College of Wooster in third with 643 strokes (313+330=643).
Individually, freshman Chad Casey (South Bend, Ind./John Adams) carded a final round of 79 strokes to lead the Terreirs and finish the tournament with 160 total strokes (81+79=160) and placed in a tie for sixth overall. Junior Bob Ritchie (Strongsville/Brunswick) was second with a two-day total of 165 strokes (81+84=165). Senior Andy Deehr (Cortland/Champion) also shot an 84 on the final day and posted the third lowest tournament score for Hiram at 171 strokes (87+84=171). Freshman Ethan Tope (Dalton/Waynedale) was fourth with 173 strokes (85+88=173) and freshman Mark Guarnera (Chardon/Berkshire) rounded out the Hiram competitors with 185 strokes (96+89=185).
Hiram concluded its fall schedule with the completion of the Kenyon Fall Invitational. The Terriers will start the 2011 spring schedule with their annual trip to Pinehurst, N.C. from Mar. 5-11.
