The Hiram College men’s golf team placed 15th after the final round of the Strimer Memorial Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University at Oakhaven Golf Club in Delaware.
Hiram shot a team-total of 333 strokes on the final day and ended the tournament with an overall total of 676 strokes (343+333=676) to place 15th of 15 teams. Wittenberg University won the event with 578 strokes (293+285=578). Lindenwood University-Belleville was second at 599 strokes (294+305=599) and Otterbein University rounded out the top-three teams with 601 strokes (306+295=601).
Individually for Hiram, sophomore Richard Bacher (West Lafayette, Ind./West Lafayette) posted the lowest rounds of the tournament for Hiram and ended the two-day event with a total of 157 strokes (79+78=157) and was tied for 39th overall. Junior Kyle Meggas (Lakewood) was second with 173 strokes (87+86=173) and senior Ethan Tope(Dalton/Waynedale) was third with 175 strokes (82+93=175). Sophomore Danny Essel (Euclid) shot a tournament-total 178 strokes (95+83=178) to place fourth on the team and freshman James Workman (Garrettsville/Garfield) ended the event with 186 strokes (100+86=186).
Hiram is next scheduled to compete in the two-day Ted Barclay Invitational hosted by Denison University next Saturday-Sunday, Apr. 12-13 at Granville Golf Course in Granville.
