MUSKINGUM, OHIO — The Hiram College men’s golf team opened its 2011 spring schedule with a 13th-place finish after the final round of the Muskingum University Invitational today (Saturday, Mar. 27) at Eaglesticks Golf Course in Muskingum. [FINAL Results]
The Terriers carded a two-day team total of 642 strokes (323+319=642) to place 13th overall out of 15 schools. Malone University won the overall event with 564 strokes (278+286=564), followed by Otterbein University in second at 568 strokes (288+280=568). University of Mount Union rounded out the top-three schools with 590 strokes (302+288=590).
Individually, senior Andy Deehr (Cortland/Champion) and junior Bryan Todd (Green) led the way with two-day totals of 152 strokes and placed in a tie for 26th place overall. Freshman Chad Casey (South Bend, Ind./John Adams) was third with 168 strokes (84+84=168) and fellow freshman Ethan Tope (Dalton/Waynedale) was fourth with 171 strokes (86+85=171). Completing the list of Hiram competitors was freshman Mark Guarnera (Chardon/Berkshire) who finished with a tournament total 176 strokes (85+91=176).
Hiram will next compete at the Capital University Invitational on Friday-Saturday, Apr. 1-2 at Foxfire Golf Club in Lockbourne.
