The Hiram College men’s golf team finished in 10th place following the final round of the Kenyon College Fall Invitational at the Mount Vernon Country Club in Mount Vernon. [FINAL Results]
The Terriers ended the two-day tournament with a total of 714 strokes (364+350=714) to place 10th of 10 teams. Columbus State Community College took the team title with 621 strokes (310+311=621). Northwestern Ohio was second at 625 strokes (312+313=625) and host school Kenyon placed third with 630 strokes (316+314=630).
Freshman Danny Essel (Euclid) carded a final round of 83 strokes to end the tournament with a total of 171 strokes (88+83=171) and placed 50th overall individually. Sophomore Kyle Meggas (Lakewood) was second with a two-day total 173 strokes (88+85=173) and junior Ethan Tope (Dalton/Waynedale) was third at 178 strokes (91+87=178). Sophomore Jon Hall (Barberton) posted the fourth-lowest stroke total at 192 (97+95=192). Rounding out the individual competitors for the Terriers was seniorCorey Navarro (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) with a tournament-total 253 strokes (118+135=253).
Hiram will wrap-up the 2012 fall schedule with the one-day Lourdes University Invitational on Sunday, Oct. 14 at Barrington Golf Club in Aurora. The 18-hole round is set to begin at noon.
