The Hiram College men’s golf team completed the first round of the Guy W. Kuhn Memorial Invitational hosted by Allegheny (Pa.) College at the Country Club of Meadville and are currently in 17th place.
Hiram shot a team total of 437 strokes on day one to place 17th of 17 teams. Carnegie Mellon (Pa.) University leads the team standings with 300 strokes. Host school Allegheny is second at 303 strokes and Kenyon College is third at 304 strokes.
Sophomore Richard Bacher (West Lafayette, Ind./West Lafayette) led Hiram in the opening round with an 18-hole total 86 strokes and sits in a tie for 69th place overall. Junior Kyle Meggas (Lakewood) carded an opening round 89 strokes for second on the team. Freshman James Workman (Garrettsville/Garfield) and junior Kevin Callahan(Shaker Heights/Gilmour Academy) rounded out the Hiram competitors with first round totals of 107 and 155 strokes respectively.
The Terriers will conclude the two-day event tomorrow (Monday, Sept. 16) with the final round of the Kuhn Memorial in Meadville, Pa. The round is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m.
