Senior offensive lineman Kyle Bates (Painesville/Thomas W. Harvey) has been selected to play in the USA Football Bowl in Jackson, Mississippi on January 19.
The game will feature players from Division I, Division II, Division III and NAIA institutions.
“I was not expecting to be selected to play in this game,” said Bates. “It is an honor and a privilege to be able to represent Hiram and the football program.”
Bates will travel to Jackson on January 16, with the game set for January 19.
Bates earned Honorable Mention All-NCAC honors this season after starting and playing all 10 games for Hiram.
He is the second Terrier to play in a postseason all-star game, joining senior quarterback Robert Partridge (Massillon/Washington), who threw two touchdowns to lead Team USA to a 24-21 win in the Aztec Bowl.
Under fifth year head coach Randy Moore, Hiram went 5-5 and 4-5 in the NCAC. The five victories were the most for the program since the 1988 season.
