The Kennedy Center basement has a new look for the 2014-15 academic year.

Just about six months after renovations to the main lounge were completed, this newest set of renovations will give students yet another fresh, updated space for campus programming and gatherings.

Alex Ulbricht, Director of Campus Involvement, and Nikki Pueyo Svoboda, nursing major and vice president of finance for Student Senate, spearheaded the project. The renovations include a fresh coat of paint and the following features:

  • 50-inch televisions
  • Foosball table
  • Two pool tables
  • Ping pong table
  • Xbox One system and games
  • Wii system and games
  • PlayStation and games
  • Projector and screen

“Until now, there hasn’t been a large space like this for students to get together to watch a football game, play video games and just hang out,” Ulbricht said. “I think they’ll enjoy it.”

She said the Office of Campus Involvement will hold events in the space from time to time, and it will be open for students to use on evenings and weekends. Updated hours will be posted on the Office of Campus Involvement website. The first event in the renovated basement lounge will be Pizza Game Night at 8 p.m. on Aug. 25, 2014.

This project was funded by the Funding You Board.
