HIRAM, OHIO — Hiram College baseball player and junior first baseman Steve Dunn (Westlake) has been named this week’s North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week. [NCAC Baseball Release]
Dunn helped the Terriers post a pair of victories last week with wins against Lesley (Mass.) University and Mt. Aloysius (Pa.) College in the first game of a doubleheader. Overall, Hiram ended its season-opening trip to Florida last week with a 4-3 mark.
Individually, Dunn batted an impressive .571 (eight-of-14) at the plate in five games with eight runs batted in, five runs scored and had four doubles. He posted two multi-hit games, including a perfect four-of-four effort in the first game of a doubleheader against Northland (Wisc.) College on Monday (Mar. 7) in which he also scored a run and tallied a RBI. Dunn also recorded a strong offensive finish to the week recording six RBI in his final three games of the week with a pair of RBIs against Lesley and in both games of the doubleheader against Mt. Aloysius.
For the season, Dunn currently leads the team in batting average at .579 (11-of-19) and also leads the team in doubles (six) and RBI (11). He is fourth in runs scored with eight. Defensively, Dunn has a .960 fielding percentage with 48 putouts as the team’s starting first baseman.
Dunn and the rest of the Hiram baseball team are scheduled to play against Thiel College tomorrow (Wednesday, Mar. 16) in a non-conference single nine-inning game in Greenville, Pa. The game is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
