October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and the women of Delta Chi Lambda, Phi Beta Gamma, and Phi Kappa Chi will sponsor Hiram’s Annual Breast Cancer Awareness week October 18-21.
Monday, October 18, kicked off the week with caramel apple decorating. For a $2 donation, participants received their own caramel apples that they could decorate with the delicious goodies provided.
Tuesday, October 19, Come and share stories of loved ones who have been touched by breast cancer while enjoying some hot chocolate and cookies with the women of Phi Beta Gamma and Hiram’s Bosom Buddies.

Wednesday, October 20, Enjoy some popcorn and cider with the women of Delta Chi Lambda as Asha Goodner, director of the Health Center, discusses preventative measures against breast cancer.
7:30 p.m. in the Kennedy Center Main Lounge
Thursday, October 21, Fourth Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Dinner located in the Ballroom on the 2nd floor of the Kennedy Center at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy a catered dinner with the ladies of Phi Kappa Chi as they honor those who have fallen ill to breast cancer. Speaker Diana Fretwell will share her inspirational story during dinner.
Tickets are available at the Welcome Center all week and are $5 for faculty/staff and free for students.
Come early at 7 p.m. to participate in a symbolic prayer service followed by a balloon release in honor of those who have been affected by breast cancer.
Don’t forget to bring spare change with you all week to lunch to purchase ribbons and to sponsor a balloon from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Dining Hall. Ribbons are .50 cents and balloons are $1.
All money raised during this week will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation to be used for breast cancer research, awareness, and support.
