Hiram College celebrated its 174th Commencement on Saturday, May 11, 2024. The ceremony welcomed a new class of Hiram alumni as friends, family, and loved ones gathered to celebrate their accomplishments.

Commencement exercises included a student welcome from graduating senior Mackenzie Flaherty ’24, a political science major with minors in crime, law, and justice and sociology, and president of Student Senate.

This year’s commencement address was given by Hiram alumnus Adam Hickman ’12, Ph.D., vice president of organizational and cast development at Partners, an affiliate of The Walt Disney Company.

The 2024 graduating class included 164 candidates, of which 149 were presented with bachelor of arts degrees, eight were presented bachelor of science in nursing degrees, and seven were presented master of arts degrees.

Two graduates, Reece Zeigler, an art and design major, and Madeline Billock, an accounting and financial management major, celebrated commencement on May 11 and their wedding the following day on May 12. Both graduated summa cum laude from Hiram College.

The graduating class celebrated their accomplishments by dawning stoles, cords, and decorating their mortarboards.

To close out the ceremony, graduates were united in the turning of their tassels before being welcomed into the Hiram alumni community by Jared Drummer ’08, president of the alumni executive board.
