HIRAM, OHIO — The Hiram Terriers swept a pair of matches Saturday (Sept. 25) at Price Gym over the Kenyon Ladies (3-0) and the Ohio Wesleyan Battling Bishops (3-0) in the first day of matches for the NCAC Volleyball Weekend hosted by Hiram College. Junior Shaina Bryan (South Euclid/ Brush) topped the Terriers with 12 kills in their 3-0 win over Kenyon (25-21, 25-16, 25-18). Junior Megan Woodard (Saint Leonard, Md./ Calvert) was second on the team with 5 kills. Freshman Kallie Rogers (Petersburg/ Springfield Local) led the way with 14 assists while senior setter Alyssa Coundourides (Brunswick/ Parma-Padua Franciscan) was close behind with 13. Defensively it was Bryan’s 13 digs that helped hold down Kenyon.
Hiram’s second match of the afternoon saw the Terriers sweep the Battling Bishops 25-10, 25-17 and 25-14. This time it was Woodard who swooped in with 13 kills to lead Hiram College while Brian was a close second in kills with 12. Coundourides led the Terriers in assists in this match with 20 while Rogers helped with 13 of her own. Senior Kim Sage (Bellevue) recorded 13 digs to lead the team and Brian was not far behind with 12.
Hiram College continues their journey through the NCAC Volleyball Weekend with a pair of matches Sunday (Sept. 26). The first match will be at 10:00 A.M. vs. Wittenberg and the Terriers finish up the tournament with a game at 2:00 P.M. vs. Denison.
