On Saturday, December 11, 2010, twenty-four Hiram College Accounting students became Certified Ohio Benefit Bank Tax counselors. Students spent the entire day learning the practical techniques of interviewing clients for the upcoming tax preparation process.
The Ohio Benefit Bank (OBB) is a public-private partnership that provides community outreach and access to low and moderate-income Ohioans. In partnership with the Ohio Association of Second Harvest Food Banks and the Governor’s Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, the OBB offers free tax preparation and public benefits. The students will assist low and moderate-income people in the Cleveland area from January to April in 2011.
