Hiram College always has and will continue to put our students first. Our commitment to students starts during the admission process and continues as alumni. For the incoming class experiencing difficulties and delays with the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), this is no different.

With this year’s relaunch of the FAFSA, colleges and universities around the country, including Hiram, announced that the U.S. Department of Education sent incorrect financial aid information. The Department of Education is encouraging and allowing higher education institutions to move forward with incorrect data, while continuing to fix the errors in the system and reevaluate previously sent data. Instead of using incorrect data, Hiram’s Student Financial Services team requested all FAFSA data be reprocessed, so correct data is used when offering financial aid. The team is wading through the data, going line by line, confirming data is correct before sending out offers.

We know this year’s financial aid process can be overwhelming, and it can impact your college decision. We are committed to offering you the best value for your time at Hiram, while remaining flexible to help each student individually. As released in January, Hiram has moved back the deposit deadline from the traditional May 1 deadline to June 1.

If you still need to complete the FAFSA, we encourage you to do so as soon as you are able. The FAFSA allows you to be considered for all sources of financial aid. The FAFSA can be completed online at https://studentaid.gov/. Don’t forget to include Hiram’s school code, 003049, in the school section. This allows us to receive your information from the Department of Education.

Hiram’s net price calculator at www.hiram.edu/netprice also provides you with estimated net price information minus estimated grant and scholarship aid to help you and your family see what similar students paid previously.
