The Hiram College outdoor track and field teams competed at the first annual Jack Hanzen Open Meet hosted by Malone College this afternoon (Saturday, Apr. 5) in Canton. [Complete Meet Results]
The Terrier women had two top-ten finishers in senior All-NCAC hurdler Lynne Hutchison (Solon) and sophomore Nadrienna Damaris (Detroit, Mich./Renaissance).Hutchison placed seventh in the 100-meter hurdles crossing the finish line in a time of 16.54 seconds. Demaris finished fifth in the long jump with a leap of 16′ 2.50″. Hiram also had a relay team place in the top ten as Hutchison, Deandra Gant, sophomore Tiffani Martin (Loudonville) and freshman Kelly Blon (Jefferson) recorded a combined time of 4:17.49 in the 4×400-meter relay to place sixth overall.
Sophomore Stefhen Offutt (Twinsburg) and freshman Steve Hammond (Huber Heights/Kettering Fairmont) were the lone competitors for the Hiram men. Offutt posted finishes of 12th in the 100-meter dash (11.71 seconds) and 14th in the long jump (18′ 6.00″). Hammond placed 19th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.92.
The Hiram outdoor track teams are scheduled to compete at the annual All-Ohio Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University next Saturday, Apr. 12 in Delaware. The first event is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
