During the fall session, the Hiram College Board of Trustees voted to name Leonard Sippel, M.B.A., CPA, who previously served in an interim capacity, as the College’s chief financial officer and vice president for business and finance. In this role, Sippel will manage the College’s business operations and several departments, including the business office, human resources, information technology, and the physical plant. 

Sippel comes to the College with 36 years of experience in leading and managing the administrative and financial functions at both government-sponsored and private institutions. Most recently, he served as vice president for administration and finance at Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina.  

Over the course of his career, Sippel has developed and instituted long and short-range planning and budgeting systems; managed and implemented safety, security, and risk management systems; and managed treasury functions, including issuance of tax-exempt bonds, selection of investment strategies, and integration of cash management. He has also managed and implemented administrative information systems, including installation of ERP systems and institution-wide productivity systems.  

Sippel holds his Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics, business administration, and economics from the University of Wisconsin – Seven Points and his Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting and finance from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh. He is also a certified public accountant.
