Hiram College

The Hiram College men’s golf team placed 10th of 12 teams following the final round of the Nye Intercollegiate Invitational today (Sunday, Apr. 20) hosted by The College of Wooster at the Wooster Country Club in Wooster. [Final Results]

The Terriers improved by seven strokes on the final day to finish with a tournament total of 681 strokes (344+337=681) to place 10th overall. Ohio Wesleyan University won the tournament with 603 strokes (303+300=603). Olivet (Mich.) College was second with 612 strokes (306+306=612) and Denison University was third with 618 strokes (312+306=618).

Individually for Hiram, junior Brian Wilthew (Garrettsville/James A. Garfield) led the Terriers with a two-day total 160 strokes (78+82=160) and placed in a tie for 26th overall. Senior Craig Blaustein (Beachwood) tied Wilthew for the low round of the day with an 82 and posted a total of 166 strokes (84+82=166) for the tournament to place second on the team. Senior Dan Yockel (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) finished third with 176 strokes (89+87=176). Senior Jared Drummer (Dayton/Oakwood) carded an 86 in the final round to finish the tournament with 179 strokes (93+86=179). Freshman Andy Deehr (Cortland/Champion) rounded out the Hiram competitors with a two-day total 194 strokes (93+101=194).

Hiram will conclude the 2007-08 season on Saturday-Sunday, May 3-4 when it travels to Granville for the North Coast Athletic Conference Championship hosted by Denison University at the Granville Golf Course.
