The Hiram College football team was tabbed to finish ninth and tenth in the coaches and media preseason polls that were released Friday (Aug. 8) at the North Coast Athletic Conference Football Media Day in Delaware, Ohio.

Hiram received 17 points to place ninth in the coaches poll and 36 points in the media poll to place tenth.  Wittenberg University was forecasted as the conference champion by the coaches receiving seven of 10 first place votes and accumulating 97 points.  Wittenberg and Wabash (Ind.) College tied for first in points in the media poll with 227 each.  But Wabash edged Wittenberg in first place votes with 13 whle the Tigers received 11.

“We are very excited to get the season going,” said second-year Head Coach Bob Wolfe.  “We have the most players coming into camp in school history and they have all dedicated themselves and worked hard in the offseason.”

The Terriers officially report to camp on Thursday (Aug. 14) and will have over 100 hundred players, including almost 70 freshmen and transfers, to begin the season.  Hiram will open the 2008 schedule on Saturday, Sept. 6 at Gallaudet University in Washington D.C.  The game is scheduled to begin at noon.
