Hiram College has once again been recognized by Colleges of Distinction, earning designation as a 2026-27 College of Distinction and receiving specialized recognition in Business, Education, Nursing, Affordability, and International Student Support. The College was also honored for achieving 10 consecutive years as a College of Distinction, a milestone that reflects a decade-long commitment to delivering an exceptional undergraduate experience.
Colleges of Distinction recognizes institutions that demonstrate excellence in engaged learning, great teaching, vibrant campus communities, and successful student outcomes. Rather than relying solely on rankings or selectivity measures, the organization evaluates colleges based on how effectively they prepare students for success both during and after college.
“At Hiram, we believe higher education should be personal, purposeful, and transformative,” said Jim Malz ’87, interim president of Hiram College. “These recognitions affirm our commitment to providing students with meaningful opportunities to learn, lead, and prepare for their future careers while receiving the individualized support that has long defined the Hiram experience.”
In addition to its overall College of Distinction designation, Hiram earned recognition in several specialized categories:
Business College of Distinction
Hiram’s business programs were recognized for providing students with a strong foundation in leadership, critical thinking, ethical decision-making, and experiential learning. Education College of Distinction

Nursing College of Distinction
Hiram’s nursing program was recognized for preparing future healthcare professionals through rigorous coursework, clinical experiences, dedicated faculty support, and a strong liberal arts foundation. The distinction highlights the College’s commitment to educating nurses who are clinically prepared, compassionate, and equipped to meet the evolving needs of the healthcare profession.
Affordable College of Distinction
This designation recognizes institutions that provide strong educational value and return on investment. Hiram was honored for its commitment to making higher education accessible through financial aid, manageable student debt levels, and outcomes that position graduates for long-term success.
International College of Distinction
Hiram also earned recognition for its commitment to supporting international students through personalized services, academic support, cultural programming, and an inclusive campus community. The designation reflects the College’s efforts to ensure international students feel welcomed, connected, and positioned for success from enrollment through graduation.
