To the Hiram Campus Community,
Fire and safety officials have completed an exhaustive investigation and room by room search of the campus and have indicated that it is now safe for all members of the community to return. The investigation into identifying who is responsible for these threats will continue in the days to come and the College is committed to identifying and prosecuting the responsible person(s). In addition to criminal prosecution, the College intends to take civil action on behalf of students, faculty and staff.
We have asked AVI to open the dining hall and they have agreed to do at 9:30 p.m.. In addition, the counseling center will be open Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon for those students who would like to talk with someone. Regular counseling hours will resume at 8:30 a.m. Monday.
Thank you for your prompt response to the request to evacuate campus. We recognize that this was inconvenient, but we must always take threats like this seriously to ensure the safety of our community.
Students are encouraged to contact their families to update them on the resolution of this situation.
The hatred and anger represented in the threatening email will not deter us from celebrating all members of our community. We remain committed to a learning environment in which all are welcome.
