The Julia Church Health Center will kick off its yearlong Healthy Hiram campaign on Oct. 22, 2013, from 7-9 p.m. in the Kennedy Center.
The event, “Total Fitness” is presented in partnership with University Hospital Geauga Medical Center. The event is free and open to the public, and attendees will have access to several resources and activities promoting healthy lifestyles, with a focus on fitness, including the following:
- Free cholesterol, blood glucose and hearing screenings
- Wii Fit fitness test
- Smoker’s lung observation
- Information on concussions
- Health assessment of smoothies
There will be giveaways throughout the night, as well as healthy snacks and drinks. This event is part of the Healthy Campus 2020 initiative, spearheaded by the American College Health Association.
“We want to educate the students of Hiram College to make better lifestyle choices that will affect them not only physically, but mentally and emotionally as well,” said Marjorie Billock, registered nurse at the Health Center.
