CLEVELAND, OHIO  —  Four members of the Hiram College volleyball team have been named to the 2010 North Coast Athletic Conference Teams.  In addition, junior outside hitter Shaina Bryan (South Euclid/Brush) was tabbed Player of the Year.  Bryan and junior middle hitter Kristi Opfer (Garrettsville/Garfield) were first-team picks, senior setter Alyssa Coundourides (Brunswick/Parma-Padua Franciscan) earned second-team honors and junior middle hitter Andrea Kaminsky (Canton/GlenOak) was selected honorable mention.  [2010 All-NCAC Teams]

The Terriers ended the season with a 24-10 overall record and were NCAC regular-season co-champs with a 13-1 record.  Hiram qualified for a 10th straight appearance in the conference tournament as well as advancing to the championship match for the ninth straight season where the Terriers finished as runners-up.  The Terriers also posted their second consecutive season with 20 or more wins and seventh of the last eight overall.

Bryan earned her second All-NCAC award and her first first-team selection.  She was a honorable mention pick last year.  This fall, Bryan led the team in kills with 407 (3.34 kills per set) and had a .299 hitting percentage.  She was also second in digs (395), service aces (24) and was fourth in total blocks (65).  In addition, Bryan was also amongst the conference leaders in kills, hitting percentage and digs.  Following the NCAC Tournament, Bryan was named to the All-Tournament Team after posting 38 kills (5.43 k/s), 18 digs and four blocks during the two-day event.

Opfer also earned her second All-NCAC award and first first-team selection.  She garnered second-team All-Conference accolades in 2009.  Opfer had another strong performance this fall finishing second on the team in kills at 260 (2.13 k/s) and led the team in hitting percentage at .325.  She ended the season second in total blocks with 101 (seven solo and 94 assists) in addition to recording 23 aces and 64 digs.  Opfer ranked in the top-five in the conference in both hitting percentage and blocks going into the NCAC Tournament.

Coundourides capped a standout four-year career with her first All-NCAC selection.  For the season, Coundourides tallied a team-high 731 set assists (5.99 assists per game) and was amongst the team leaders in both digs at 225 (1.84 digs per set) and aces with 15.  She also joined Bryan on the All-Tournament Team following the NCAC Tournament.  For her career, Coundourides recorded 2,032 assists (4.67 a/s) which rank fourth most in school history.  She also ends her playing career with 679 digs (1.56 d/s) and 72 aces in 435 sets played.

Kaminsky ends her junior season with her first All-NCAC selection.  She finished in a tie for third on the team in kills with 215 (1.82) and was third in hitting percentage at .320.  Defensively, Kaminsky led the team and the conference in blocks with 107 (23 solo and 84 assists) and averaged almost a block per set (0.91 b/s).  In addition to her kills and blocks, she also recorded 18 digs and three assists.
