Hiram College

The Office of Alumni Relations is hosting a panel discussion and presentation with Hiram faculty on issues regarding the 2012 presidential election. The discussion will take place at 6 p.m. on Nov. 1, 2012, at LockKeeper’s in Valley View, and is open to all alumni, faculty and staff.

Attendees must RSVP, as space is limited. Cost is $15 ($10 for GOLD alumni, Graduates Of the Last Decade), and covers entrance into the panel discussion, limitless hors d’oeuvres at the reception, and two beverages.

Discussion topics include the following:

  • Doug Brattebo, Director of the Center for Engaged Ethics & Assistant Professor of Political Science: “Demographic Change and Presidential Politics in 2013 and Beyond”
  • Rodney Hessinger, Professor of History: “A Conspiracy of Silence, or What Ever Happened to Reverend Wright and Mormonism in the 2012 Election?”
  • Sarah Mabey, Assistant Professor & Co-Director of the Environmental Studies Program: “Missed Opportunities and Sins of Omission:  Science, the Environment, and National Policy in 2012”
  • James Thompson, Assistant Professor of Political Science: “Mark Twain, Holy Warriors and a Ukrainian Aircraft Carrier: The Perils for Presidential Decision Making in the Near Term”
