HOLLAND, OHIO — The Hiram College cross country teams concluded its 2010 season at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Meet this afternoon (Saturday, Nov. 13) hosted by Hope College in Holland, Mich. The men finished the event with 920 points to place 31st of 33 overall teams. Calvin (Mich.) College took the team title with 57 points. Wabash (Ind.) College was second with 122 points and Albion (Mich.) College rounded out the top three with 177 points.
Individually, junior Joe Hengoed (Seven Hills/Normandy) led Hiram with a time of 27:02.1 and finished 112th overall out of 240 total runners. Sophomore Chris Pratt (North Canton/Hoover) recorded the second fastest time for the team at 28:12.4. Freshman Forrest Reed (Seven Hills/Normandy) was third at 29:16.7 and sophomore Bryan Nemire (Berlin Heights/Edison) was the fourth Terrier to cross the finish line completing the 8k course with a time of 29:40.2. Senior Nicholas Michalenko (Moon Twp., Pa./Our Lady of Sacred Heart) was fifth with a mark of 30:06.2 and sophomore Brendan Curtin (Burton/Berkshire) posted a mark of 30:29.0. Rounding out the men’s competitors was freshman Sam Ivcic (Maple Heights) who posted a time of 30:53.7.
The women totaled 1018 points to place 33rd of 34 teams. Calvin captured the women’s title with 69 points. Host school Hope was second with 103 points and Case rounded out the top three at 115 points.
Individually, freshman Laila Almassri (Parma/Normandy) had the fastest overall time for the Hiram women at 25:42.5 and was 165th overall out of 240 total runners. Senior Lindsay Kuhn (Canfield) was second to finish the 6k course with a time of 27:46.8. Freshman Clarissa Claflin (Mayfield/Mayfield Heights) was the third Terrier to cross the finish line with a time of 28:01.7 and was followed by sophomore Megan Orosz (Mentor/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) who completed the course in a time of 28:18.9. Sophomore Natalie Richardson (McConnelsville/Morgan) posted a time of 30;34.8 and senior Bristena Marinescu (Arad, Romania/Moise Nicora College) had a time of 30:48.6. Completing the list of Hiram competitors was freshman Carly Kidner (Ashtabula/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) who recorded a time of 31.23.8.
