CEDARVILLE, OHIO — The Hiram College cross country teams competed at the annual All-Ohio Cross Country Championships today (Friday, Sept. 30) hosted by Cedarville University in Cedarville. [Men’s Results] [Women’s Results]
The men finished the event with a team score of 576 points to place 20th overall out of 22 Division III teams. Senior Joe Hengoed (Seven Hills/Normandy) led the Terrier men with a time of 27:35.11 and finished 50th overall amongst Div. III competitors. Junior Bryan Nemire (Berlin Heights/Edison) was second with a time of 29:24.74. Fellow junior Brendan Curtin (Burton/Berkshire) was the third Hiram runner to cross the finish line in a mark of 29:52.97. Sophomore Forest Reed (Seven Hills/Normandy) was next in a time of 30:57.74 and was followed by senior Don Daley (Chagrin Falls/University School) who posted a time of 32:41.13.
The Hiram women ended the event with a total of 699 points and placed 22nd out of 22 Division III schools. Individually, sophomore Laila Almassri (Parma/Normandy) posted the top overall time for the Terriers of 22:14.18 and placed 121st overall amongst the Div. III runners. Sophomore Clarissa Claflin (Mayfield/Mayfield Heights) was second at 25:04.84 and was followed by junior Natalie Richardson (McConnelsville/Morgan) who crossed the finish line in a time of 25:10.21.
The Hiram cross country teams will compete again tomorrow (Saturday, Oct. 1) at the University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg Invitational in Greensburg, Pa. The first race is set to begin at 10 a.m.
