In the 4k race, the Terrier women were led by freshman Taylor Shutler (Salem/South Range) who ran a time of 19:07.40 and placed 32nd overall out of 51 runners. Senior Megan Orosz(Mentor/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) recorded the second fastest time of 19:51.90 and was followed by junior Clarissa Claflin (Mayfield/Mayfield Heights) who completed the course in a time of 20:55.80. Posting the fourth-best time was senior Natalie Richardson(McConnelsville/Morgan) at 21:46.50 and was followed by senior Bonnie Bentar (Monroe, Mich./Jefferson) with a mark of 21:53.80. In addition, sophomore Patricia Bohls (Macedonia) and sophomore Sarah Dutton (Columbia, Md./Columbia) recorded times of 23:51.40 and 24:13.50, while senior Elizabeth Haase (Akron/Firestone) and junior Alexis Alvarado (Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea) rounded out the Hiram competitors with times of 26:31.90 and 28:20.90 respectively.
The Hiram women did not have a competitor in the 5k race.
All of the runners on the men’s side competed in the 5k race which was led by senior Brendan Curtin (Burton/Berkshire) who ran a time of 22:28.80 and placed 24th overall out of 33 runners. Fellow senior Bryan Nemire (Berlin Heights/Edison) and freshman Kevin Kerper both turned in marks of 22.28.90. Junior Anthony Franklin (Newbury) and freshman Matt Walker also crossed the finish line with equal times of 22:29.00. Sophomore Bryan Goldstein(Lyndhurst/Brush) was next in a time of 25:26.20 and junior Mason Yeater was next with a time of 25:27.90. Completing the list of Hiram men’s competitors was sophomore Jabez Patterson (Chicago, Ill./Noble Street Charter School) with a time of 30:42.90.
The Hiram cross country teams will compete again tomorrow (Saturday, Sept. 1) at the annual Westminster (Pa.) College Invitational. The first race is set to begin at 10 a.m. in New Wilmington, Pa.
