CLEVELAND, OHIO — Hiram College baseball player and senior outfielder Doug Adkins (Frazeysburg/Riverview) along with junior infielder Torrey Stimson (Hudson (Walled Lake (Mich.)) have both been named to the 2011 North Coast Athletic Conference teams as honorable mention picks for their efforts this season. Adkins earns All-Conference honors for the second straight season and has been tabbed honorable mention both seasons. This spring, Adkins was third on the team in batting with a .308 hitting percentage (24-of-78) and was second in runs scored (18), RBI (15) and doubles (nine). He also hit one homerun during the season and was amongst the team leaders in walks. Defensively, Adkins had a .972 fielding percentage as the starting right fielder with 32 putouts, three assists and just one error in 24 games.
For his career, Adkins played in 108 games and started 103. He had a .289 lifetime batting average (95-of-329) with seven homeruns, four triples, 29 doubles, 66 runs scored and 52 RBI. On defense, Adkins had a .953 fielding percentage with 167 putouts and 17 assists.
Stimson earned All-Conference honors in his first season as a Terrier. He started all 21 games he played in and finished second on the team in hitting with a .339 average (21-of-62) and was fourth on the team in runs scored with 14. He also added a triple, five doubles and drove in seven runs. In addition, he was tied with Adkins amongst the team leaders in walks with 10. Defensively, Stimson had a .949 fielding percentage with 22 putouts and 53 assists.
