Willard Greenwood, Ph.D., professor of English has taught courses on fly fishing to Hiram College students for over a decade. Besides the mechanics, Dr. Greenwood introduces students to the culture and history of fly fishing, with the hope that they gain an appreciation for the art and understand how it connects humans to the beauty of nature.
Over the years, Dr. Greenwood has published several articles, essays, and poems on the sport. Most recently, his article, “A College Course on Fly Fishing,” was published in the Fly Fishing and Tying Journal. The feature in the quarterly publication explores the educational experience that a course in fly fishing can provide to students.
