Green Energy Ohio welcomes the annual 2010 Ohio Solar Tour. Green Energy Ohio is the Ohio Chapter of the American Solar Energy Society (ASES), and GEO’s 8th Annual Ohio Solar Tour is part of the National Solar Tour managed by ASES. This free statewide event on October 2 and 3 provides the unique opportunity for people to visit open house sites, attend guided tours, and talk with owners living and working with clean energy technologies.
Hiram College will be exhibiting two of their LEED certified facilities as part of this state-wide event; tours of East Hall will demonstrate the benefits living and learning in an eco-friendly facility, while tours of the James H. Barrow Biological Field Station will showcase the use of geothermal energy sources, recycled building materials, and energy efficient features. Both tours will be available on Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m., every hour on the hour. For more information, visit GEO’s search page and enter Portage County in the Region area.
Ralph Dull, a local farmer and owner of Dull Homestead in Brookville, OH, states on the GEO website, “In dramatic ways, the future of our country and world will not resemble the present. GEO is making great strides in helping the public be aware of opportunities to invest into clean renewable energy. It is not only the right thing to do, but also likely a practical investment in the long term.”
