Hiram alumni, their families and friends experienced memories as warm as the weather, June 15-17, as they traveled back to Hiram Hill for Alumni Weekend 2012.
From the first foursome off the tee Friday in the annual alumni golf outing, to the final goodbyes after breakfast and the worship service Sunday morning, returnees found a lively campus full of activities geared to stimulate the mind and bring back fond memories of their time in Hiram. There were nature hikes, campus tours, lectures on politics and Hiram’s history, wine and beer tastings, dances and 13 separate five-year reunion class dinners.
At the All-Alumni Reception on Saturday evening, many of the alumni munched on hors d’oeuvres, and applauded the achievements of the 2012 winners of alumni awards. Carl Draucker ’73, received the Alumni Volunteer Award, for his volunteer work for the College, Jennie Dennison-Budak ’98, was recognized with the Recent Graduate Service to Humanity Award. Robert Turner ’72 and Marshall Winkle ’57 were both recognized with the Alumni Achievement Award. Kenneth Pike, husband of Professor emerita, Damaris Peters-Pike received the President’s Award, and Susan Wheeler Dawson ’42 was recognized with the Lifelong Achievement Award. Dawson, who lives in Louisiana, was unable to attend the ceremony.
