Hiram College has entered into the fifth week of the Global Institute for Management and Leadership program. Through this program the College has welcomed more than 100 undergraduate and graduate students to campus for coursework and training in IT, operations management, communication technology and management.
Students from Sharda University, one of the universities represented on Hiram’s campus, completed a two-day workshop in Sustainable Management and Technology this week, taught by Jay Tener, President of Higher Ground Business Services, housed in Cleveland.
Sharda University is based out of Greater Noida, Delhi NCR, India, and was recently recognized as “Best Private University in Delhi-NCR 2012” at the Education Excellence Awards. The sustainable management workshop was part of the program students are undergoing to earn a Certificate of Management in Multinational Companies from Hiram College. The students in the program are interested in careers in financial analytics, restaurant entrepreneurship, investment banking, coal mining and processing, business management and human resources.
Gary Baney, Chief Development officer for Advanced Services Management Group and adjunct faculty at Case Western Reserve University, spoke to the students as well, on the topic of “Planning for Sustainable Business Tools to Think Globally While Acting Locally.”
“Standards are what steer our principles, and our standards become the measurement of our principles,” he told the students.
Baney and the class discussed technology-based regulations driven by organizations and the value of these regulations on the individual worker, the company as a whole and the global business sector.
Along with other students enrolled in the Global Institute for Management and Leadership at Hiram College, the students from Sharda University will earn their certificates on July 2, 2013.
“Hiram College is fortunate to have instructed and mentored the students from Sharda University, and we are confident they will influence others and strengthen their connections as they enter into the global business world,” said Paul Bowers, Dean of Professional and Graduate Studies at Hiram College.
