The Lindsay-Crane Center for Writing and Literature is pleased to announce the 2010 winners of the Kroehle Creative Nonfiction Contest.

Placing first is Chelsea Barattini ’11, “In Bloom.” Second place is Chelsea Carbonell ’13, with an excerpt from “All the Way to the Moon and Back.” Third place is Chelsea Noel Beabout ’13, “Lies My Mother Told Me.” Honorable mention is Rebecca Moseley ’12, “The Fifth Element.”

The contest was judged by David Giffels, author of the memoir “All the Way Home: Building a Family in a Falling-down House.” As a reporter and columnist for the Akron Beacon Journal for 18 years and former writer for the MTV series “Beavis and Butthead,” he has been nominated for the Pulitzer Prize six times and was honored in 2009 as Best News Writer in Ohio. Giffels is currently on the creative writing faculty at The University of Akron.
