Eclectic Society
Rooted in Hiram’s earliest identity as the Eclectic Institute, where James A. Garfield once served as principal, the Eclectic Society reflects a tradition of broad inquiry, opportunity and leadership.
The Eclectic Society recognizes alumni and friends who provide leadership-level annual support of $1,000 or more in the current fiscal year to the Hiram Fund. These gifts directly sustain the College’s current operations, ensuring students have access to the distinctive, student-centered education that defines Hiram.
Membership is renewed each year and reflects a shared commitment to Hiram’s present strength and continued progress.
Heritage Society
The Heritage Society honors alumni and friends whose loyalty strengthens Hiram year after year. Members have given for five or more consecutive years to any area of the College, demonstrating a steady commitment that sustains our mission and momentum.
Consistent support provides dependable resources for scholarships, academic programs and student experiences, ensuring Hiram can plan confidently and invest boldly in the future.
Burke A. Hinsdale Society
Named for President Burke A. Hinsdale, the Hinsdale Society recognizes the thoughtful generosity of those who have included Hiram College in their will or estate plans.
These forward-looking commitments, through bequests, beneficiary designations, charitable trusts or other planned gifts, create a lasting legacy. Members of the Hinsdale Society help secure Hiram’s future while reflecting their own values and lifelong connection to the College.

1850 Society
The 1850 Society honors Hiram’s most extraordinary philanthropists, those whose cumulative lifetime giving has reached $1 million or more through a combination of outright and planned gifts.
Since the College’s founding in 1850, visionary supporters have shaped Hiram’s trajectory. Members of the 1850 Society continue that tradition, advancing transformational opportunities for students and strengthening the institution for generations to come.
