Roth was named the 18th head coach in Hiram College men’s basketball history in 2020. Roth joined the Terriers from the University of Rochester in Monroe County, New York, where he served as the top assistant coach for the Yellow Jackets men’s basketball program.
During his two seasons as the University of Rochester, Roth helped the Yellow Jackets to a 37-15 record, including a 21-6 season in 2018-19 and an NCAA Division III Second-Round appearance. Under Roth’s tutelage, the Yellow Jackets ranked as high as No. 12 in 2018-19 and finished 24th in the D3Hoops.com Top 25.
Prior to joining the Yellow Jackets, Roth spent three seasons as the top assistant and interim head coach at New York University. Over his three seasons with the Violets, Roth helped NYU to a 21-6 season in 2015-16, as well as an NCAA Div. III Second-Round berth. That year, the Violets ranked as high as No. 7 in the D3Hoops Top 25, and Senior Evan Kupferberg was named the UAA Player of the Year and a First-Team All-American.
A graduate of Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio, Roth began his coaching career at his alma mater, spending one season as an assistant coach with the Yellow Jackets. Roth has also directed and worked at numerous basketball camps across the country, including camps at Cornell, Dartmouth and Yale.
Roth played four seasons for the Yellow Jackets from 2007-11, serving as a team captain his senior year in 2010-11.
