Phil Eaves assumed the role of executive assistant to the Hiram College president in September 2014. Prior to accepting this position, Mr. Eaves served as the executive assistant to the vice president and dean of the College.
Mr. Eaves came to Hiram College after three years of experience at Apple, Inc., where he held the position of preservation and operations specialist for the company’s lower New England retail division. During his time at Apple, Mr. Eaves coordinated dozens of career seminars and onboarding sessions for new retail employees throughout New England. Mr. Eaves also worked with retail teams to prepare them for the launch of new products, including: iPad (3rd generation), iPhone 5, and iPad Mini.
His prior experience at Apple has positioned Mr. Eaves to help improve the digital filing processes at Hiram College and to help explore the utilization of mobile technology in the President’s Office and elsewhere around campus. Moreover, it has prepared him to provide the technical, logistical, and orientation support to new and continuing Trustees who constitute the Governing Board at Hiram College. In addition to these duties, Mr. Eaves oversees the day-to-day operations of the President’s Office and serves as a member of the president’s senior cabinet. He also works with staff to communicate and interpret College policies and decisions, serving as a liaison between the President and the internal campus community.
Mr. Eaves earned a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and English from Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, Pa. He also earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in creative writing from Goddard College in Plainfield, Vt.
