Garrett transplanted to Hiram from Kunming Foreign Language School in the Yunnan Province of China. There, he served as instructor, college counselor, and academic manager of curriculum and instruction. Prior to his work abroad, Garrett studied at Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste Marie, (not far from Hiram’s Northwoods Field Station), where he earned his BA in Communications. Additionally, he earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Technology from the Central Michigan University Global Campus.

Research Interests

Amongst other cool things, Garrett has worked on several projects that leverage the potential of virtual reality programs. In these instances, he has plopped students inside virtual art galleries and theaters. Garrett has also worked on creating change and renewal in learning organizations through educational technology.

Fun Facts

• While not working on the ed-tech revolution, Garrett enjoys playing racquetball, making mead and doing anything outdoors in the Great Lakes region.
