SISTER EILEEN AND HER BOYZ, AN HIV IN THE RUST BELT STORY

Sister Eileen and Her Boyz, an HIV in the Rust Belt Story

Documentary filmmaker Holly Hey and co-producer Allyson Day, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Disability Studies at the University of Toledo, co-host an evening about grassroots care and community organizing in Toledo, Ohio during the height of the HIV/AIDS crisis. Sister Eileen and Her Boyz is a 30-minute documentary film chronicling the pastoral ministry of a retired Catholic nun whose dangerous convictions led to radical change for gay men needing care and housing in a mid-size midwestern city during the late 80’s and early ’90’s.
