Garfield Center for Public Leadership Seminar: The June meeting between U.S. President Trump and North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un has again raised the possibility of a negotiated solution to strategic challenges in Northeast Asia. The seminar will explore the prospects, opportunities, and obstacles for an agreement from the perspective of two former U.S. government officials who have engaged in similar negotiations and agreement implementation in the past. John A. Lauder ‘68, authority on Weapons of Mass Destruction, Nonproliferation, Arms Control, and Intelligence; retired Central Intelligence Agency and National Reconnaissance Office; and Olin L. Wethington, Chairman and Principal, Wethington International LLC; Executive Director of the Atlantic Council’s Project on Shaping the Asia-Pacific Future; retired senior U.S. Treasury and White House official and Special Envoy on China.
