Dear Hiram Students:
Welcome Back to Classes! I hope you had a wonderful break and that you and those close to you are doing reasonably well in these uncertain times. I anticipate we will have a great, if unusual, remainder of the semester at Hiram. As your Director of Student Health Services, there are few things I’d like to remind you of as we work together to navigate this uncharted territory that is called “COVID-19.”
If you are on campus and have the following symptoms, call the Julia Church Health Center at 330-569-5418. On weekends, please call the Residential Education Duty Phone at 330-569-4025 for instructions.
- Difficulty Breathing
Anyone experiencing any of these symptoms should self-isolate in their room until they are able to speak by phone to a Health Center staff member or other healthcare provider and receive further guidance.
If you are staying off campus and experiencing these symptoms, then please stay where you are, if possible. Contact your doctor or the local health department by phone as soon as you can.
No matter where you are living: If you are having severe difficulty breathing, please call 911.
In order to stop spread of the virus, it’s essential that we continue to “socially distance” and limit opportunities for transmission. Please try to remain 6 feet from each other as constantly as you can. Minimizing the amount of time you spend off campus during the next eight weeks will also help to keep you and our community safe. Before you make a decision to travel or run an errand, ask yourself if it is essential that you do so. The more we can stay away from each other and public spaces, the fewer people will be inadvertently exposed.
