Active involvement in campus life can have a definite positive impact on your overall experience as a student. Hiram College students have created several clubs that invite students to come together over their differences.
The purpose of the Black Student Union is to be the gate way between black culture and our members. They function as a support system for the black community on this campus and strive to bring positivity and education to the students involved in our organization. Each year, they host activities, including the annual Fashion Show.
The purpose of Feminism in Action is to address gender inequality issues on campus, as well as help charities, shelters, and groups in the area. Students in this club gather to discuss issues of gender identity and inequality. This club is new to campus in 2019.
Active Minds works to spread mental health awareness and resources to students on campus. 1 in 5 people have a mental health disorder so this club is crucial for our campus, and these students do their best to promote wellness and inclusion in all aspects of mental health.
Presence and Respect for Youth Sexual Minorities (PRYSM) represents the Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual, Trans and Allied community on campus. They regularly do programming related to GLBT issues, including speakers and the annual Coming Out Week. PRYSM aims to create a visible GLBTQ presence on Hiram’s campus through events and other programming, to promote the equality and acceptance of GLBTQ individuals, and to create a community of allies on campus in a safe envirionment.
I.F. strives to promote cultural diversity within the Hiram community. Their members come from a variety of different cultural and religious backgrounds and are able to educate the Hiram community by using personal narratives. They organize one of the biggest events on campus called the Intercultural dinner and talent show, which provides students with an opportunity to interact with people from various backgrounds and share their own traditions.
Student Senate is the representative body that reaches out to students to address their concerns and help bring their dreams to life. Each year, students are elected from the student body based on multiple populations of campus. They also take it upon themselves to find all facts in serious conversations about issues and concerns.
