The Class of 2021 Commencement is scheduled for Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in Martin Fieldhouse located in the Coleman Sports, Recreation and Fitness Center. Be sure to check back for all of the latest information!
We have scheduled the in-person Commencement ceremony to be held during Alumni Weekend on Sunday, June 20, 2021. The College will also host other exclusive events for our class of 2020 graduates throughout that weekend. These decisions were informed directly by the responses we received from graduating seniors we surveyed over the last couple of weeks. A majority of the respondents told us that that they did not want a virtual commencement ceremony; they indicated they preferred a face-to-face event even if it was postponed until next year. Based on those survey responses, we will host an in-person commencement event next summer.
Additionally, we will recognize our graduates in a number of different ways over the next two weeks, leading up to May 16 (the day they would have originally commenced). As a part of this recognition plan, graduating seniors will soon receive a package containing their cap and gown, tassel, cords, diploma folders, and more. We hope that they will take pictures of themselves with their families and post them on social media with the hashtag, #ForeverHiram so we can celebrate their special achievement together. Graduates will also receive a calendar of events with details about next year’s face-to-face festivities.
As always, it takes about six weeks after the end of the semester for graduates to receive their diploma in the mail. Hiram uses a third party to mail the diplomas, and the standard processing time is six weeks.
No, we are using the fee as it is intended. The graduation fee covers many expenses associated with graduation. These include the cost of your cap, gown, tassel, cords, and diploma cover plus the processing, printing and mailing your diploma and cover. Those items will be shipped directly to you in May. The remaining portion of the fees will be set aside to support the exclusive events we will design for the class of 2020 during next year’s Alumni Weekend (2021).
