10 a.m. — Shotgun Start A Day with Hiram Golf Outing Join alumni, friends and community members for the 58th annual Day with Hiram to support Hiram College athletics. Location: Sugar Bush Golf Club
Noon – 6 p.m. Welcome Reception on the Lawn Greet your classmates and make new friends at our afternoon welcome reception. Music and lawn games will add to the fun. Location: Kennedy Center Lawn No Charge
Noon – 4 p.m. Record & CD Sale Looking to purchase a few CDs or records? Stop in the hub of the former radio station “The Bark” in the basement of the Kennedy Center. Records, CDs and old equipment will be for sale. There is a huge variety of music available for $1, everything from polka to classic rock and 90’s mix. Location: Kennedy Center Basement
Noon – 4 p.m. Hourly Campus Tours Sign up at the Kennedy Center for a tour on an eight-passenger golf cart. Location: Kennedy Center
1 – 3 p.m. Global Reach to Local Roots Join for a round table discussion on bringing home what we’ve learned from projects in Africa including Roger Cram ‘88, Adjunct Faculty Member; Carol (Cram) Donley ’60, co-founder of the Center for Literature and Medicine and former Andrews Chair of Biomedical Humanities; Gwen Fischer, Emeriti Professor of Psychology; and Nubra Floyd ’86, UCSC Humanities Lecturer. Location: Mahan House
1 – 4 p.m. Bread and Soup Yes, one of our favorites, BREAD AND SOUP! Share a simple meal with your Hiram friends and give back to the community. Your meal includes soup, bread, fruit and a beverage. One dollar of every meal will benefit the Akron Canton Foodbank. Location: Brown Fall Cost – $9 $5 (Children 12 and under)
2 – 4 p.m. Strawberry Picking at Monroe’s Orchard June is prime strawberry picking season at Monroe’s Orchard. Join fellow Terriers for an afternoon of strawberry picking! Strawberries can be purchased on site at Monroe’s. Transportation is provided for registrants and shuttles will depart from the Kennedy Center. Location: Monroe’s Orchard *Registration Required – $0*
3 – 5 p.m. Afternoon Wine Tasting with Nauti Vine Join the Nauti Vine Winery from Portage Lakes, OH for a casual, self-paced wine tasting on the Booth-Centennial lawn. Owner Riki (Antoniotti) Wathey ’91 will share notes about their wines. Light snacks included. Location: Tent – Booth Centennial Lawn *Cost – $10*
5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Terrier Tapas Please join us for this progressive-style dinner featuring a variety of small dishes. We’ll begin on the Green near the Hinsdale Arch and end with dessert under the Gerstacker Arch. Stroll through the Hurd Garden during this event an enjoy a live performance by harpist Ellen Eckhouse ’85. 5:30 – 7 p.m. — First stop under the Hinsdale Arch where tapas will be served. There will be tent seating on the green, closest to the Hinsdale Arch. 6 – 7:30 p.m. — Dessert will be served under the Gerstacker Arch. Seating will be in the Oliver Plaza. Take a stroll through the Hurd Garden when you finish dessert! Location: Hinsdale Arch/Campus Green then Oliver Plaza/Hurd Garden Cost – $25 No Charge (Children 12 and under) *Food in the two locations will only be served in the times listed above. 8 – 9:15 p.m. Laughs with Comedian Bil Benden Cleveland native, Bil Benden promises to keep you on your toes, laughing aloud during his visit to Hiram. Bil has been performing stand-up comedy for over 30 years and has appeared on HBO. Location: Black Box Theatre *No Charge*
9 – 11 p.m. Campfire Gather with friends for a casual campfire in front of Booth Centennial. A cash bar will be on site and light refreshments will be served. Location: Booth Centennial *No Charge*
9 – 11 p.m. Gazing at the Stars from the Hill James Guilford, Hiram’s volunteer caretaker of the Stephens Memorial Observatory, will open the doors of the observatory for an open house so you can learn about Hiram’s unique telescope and gaze at the stars. With good visibility, you have a chance to see beautiful ringed Saturn, a close-up of the Moon, and maybe even Mars. Meet in front of the Kennedy Center to catch a golf cart ride. Location: Stephens Memorial Observatory *No Charge*
