Transfer Students

Transfer students must complete the transfer nursing application. As a transfer student, consideration for admission to the nursing program requires all normal conditions and requirements of admission to Hiram College be met, and all nursing program progression criteria be met. Admission to the major is dependent on satisfactory review of the student’s academic record and space available in the program.

Transfer students must hold an overall GPA in accordance with Hiram’s general transfer standard. Students must also demonstrate an overall GPA of 2.5 and minimum of 2.0 GPA in their first-year science courses.

Credit Evaluation

The Office of the Registrar will evaluate non-nursing transfer credit with the appropriate department chair. The transfer of courses specific to the nursing program curriculum will be considered by the Nursing Program Director/Designee on a course-by-course basis.

Before previously earned credits are considered for transfer, students may be required to submit course descriptions and/or course syllabi. Each student will be advised if they have materials that need additional review, or if additional coursework completion is required prior to enrolling in the nursing program.

The military experience and skills training of these individuals will be evaluated to determine if there is a substantial equivalent to the nursing program curriculum. Applications will be evaluated on an individual basis.
